Skeletal (striated) Muscle Notice the striations that look like stripes.

Cardiac Muscle Intercalated discs Cardiac muscle is not as strongly striated as skeletal muscle, but you will see the darker stained intercalated discs, which either will appear dark red or black depending on the slide your looking at.

Smooth Muscle No striations for this type of muscle which can be found in the intestines.

Smooth Muscle (oil) As we get closer, we can see the elongated purple Nuclei centered in the cells.

Nervous Tissue Neurons The tiny dots surrounding the neurons Are neuroglia or glial cells.
