CONFLICT Two boys are rowing a boat on the lake. Jimmy and Jerard are arguing about which way to take the boat next. Jimmy wants to go back to shore, but Jerard wants to explore an island a little further out. Jimmy goes to grab the oar from Jerard and the boat tips over, spilling them both into the water.

CONFLICT Elvis is trying to get ready for his next concert, but is having problems with his speakers. He’s busy working with his crew, trying to hook up the speakers. Frank tells him there is electricity, but there is still no sound. Elvis tells him to get some new speakers before the show.

CONFLICT Dorothy has a test tomorrow, but doesn’t want to study. She’s heard a rumor that Mrs. Winklefarby is going to be out, so there may not be a test. She decides not to study and stays up late to watch Breaking Bad, instead. She walks into the classroom the next day, unsure of what to expect.

CONFLICT Hildegard storms out of the house following a huge argument with Sven. With her love on the rocks, she trudges up to the slopes with the hope that a nice day of skiing will help clear her mind. While skiing, she becomes trapped in a terrible surprise blizzard. Howling winds, blinding snow and freezing temperatures suddenly overtake her. She becomes disoriented, except for the sense that Sven is watching over her.

CONFLICT Sunny Fairway is leading the golf tournament, heading into the final hole. She hits a three-wood off the tee that goes about 250 yards but duck hooks into a stand of trees with a pond. When she gets to the area, she notices her ball is in the water. She also notices that there is no one else around and that she can drop a new ball and play, thereby avoiding a penalty stroke. She reaches into her pocket to grab the new ball, but her mind is torn about what to do.

CONFLICT Herbert has been in love with Madeline since eighth grade. He wanted to ask her out when they got to high school, but she was dating someone else. In their sophomore year, Herbert was too busy working after school and taking care of his sick grandfather, so he didn’t have time. During their junior year, Madeline was on the soccer team, the volleyball team and track team, so she was never around. Now, Herbert is a senior and is going to ask her out, but he finds out Madeline is moving to Nevada.

CONFLICT Rosa had been working all day and followed normal routine when she boarded the bus in Montgomery, Alabama. She took her seat ten rows back, just behind the seats reserved for white folk. When all the seats in front of her had filled up, the bus driver changed a sign and made her row white seating, too. When several white passengers moved back and told her to give up her seat, Rosa refused. When the police officer came, she asked, “Why do you push us around?” He responded, “I don’t know, but the law’s the law and you’re under arrest.”
