Government: September 14, 2015 Objective: I will describe the differences between classical republicanism and natural rights philosophy in a paragraph. ENTRY TASK: WHAT IS MORE IMPORTANT: THE NEEDS OF THE MANY OR THE RIGHTS OF THE INDIVIDUAL?

Record the following information in your journal Classical Republicanism Three aspects of Classical Republicanism influential to the founding generation were: 1.Small Uniform Communities: Early American communities relied on one another to work together to overcome obstacles. 2.Citizenship and Civic Virtue: emphasized the importance of the citizen putting aside personal interests to promote the common good. Duties over Rights 3.Moral Education: included instruction in the “civil religion”-the symbols, rituals, and values of the society, as well as the proper habits, generosity, self control, respect, fairness, and courage.
