Additional Classroom Policies and Procedures

When you enter: Pick up the papers at the front of the room Read the board to see what to do Sit in your assigned seat Get out the necessary supplies  If you don't have something, take care of trying to get it as quietly as possible before the bell.  If all else fails, I will have pencils/pens that can be borrowed. To ensure you don't forget to return it, I will need something valuable in return (cell phone, keys, license, etc). Start working quietly

Tardy Policy You need to be in your seat before the bell rings. If you are not, you will likely either have to go to the tardy station or have to stand towards the back of the room until told to sit. Do not try to post-up in the hall.

What if I have a question? Raise your hand and wait patiently I will gladly help as soon as I can

Need to get out of your seat? Raise your hand and ask for permission, even if it is to blow your nose, sharpen a pencil, etc.

Bathroom Policy If you need to go to the bathroom, raise your hand and ask. You may or may not be allowed to go. Only 1 bathroom pass per six weeks. If you do not go, you get an additional 8 points added to your daily work average.

What if I get hungry/thirsty? I do not allow anyone to leave the room to get food or water. The water fountain is not far from the room, so there should be plenty of time to get water before class starts or once you leave. No food or drink is to be seen in the room. I will allow a bottle of water, as long as it remains your backpack and out of sight unless permission is granted to drink some. In a lab, even a bottle of water is not allowed.

Turning in Papers When turning in certain worksheets and quizzes, everyone should pass them to their left. A - row should then pass the papers up towards the front of the room where I will collect them. Sometimes, instead, papers will be placed in the red tray on the way out the door. Occasionally, I will come around and pick up the papers from each person.

Is the Bell about to ring? Towards the end of class I will try to warn when the bell is about to ring to give time to pack things up. This may not always happen, however, especially if there is a disruption that has caused me to run out of time. Before you leave, make sure you have all your belongings and pick up any trash to throw away on your way out. When you get up, make sure you either push in your chair or straighten your desk. I dismiss you, not the bell. Wait until I say you can leave before you get out of your seat.

Cheating/Copying There is no reason to copy in my class. As long as you attempt the work, you will usually get a decent grade. If you don't understand something, see me for tutoring or, with permission, ask a classmate for help. If you are caught copying, both the person copying and the original owner will likely receive zeros. If you are caught cheating on a test/quiz, you will receive a zero and have to remediate.

Need additional help? Generally, I am available both before and after school until soccer season starts. If I do not know of your intentions ahead of time, I may not be able to be around. Please try to tell me as soon as possible. I usually get to school around 7am and I leave around 5pm. Additionally, you can me at if you have additional questions.

Lab Groups I will assign lab groups for almost every lab. Your partner(s) are probably seated around you.
