Minimum Housing Requirements Minimum Temperature 65 oF

Overcrowding  Bedrooms must have 70 square feet for the first occupant 50 square feet for each additional occupant 10 feet 12 Feet12 Feet

Ceiling Height  At least half the room must have a ceiling height of at least 7 feet  Any part of a room with a ceiling height of less then 5 feet is not considered in sizing for occupancy rate

Light and Ventilation  Every habitable room must have at least 1 window or skylight that can be opened for ventilation  Bathrooms and kitchens are exempt if they have a mechanical form of ventilation

Cellars  A cellar is defined as any portion of a building located partly or wholly underground having half or more of its clear height (floor to ceiling) below the average grade of the adjoining ground  IT IS ILLEGAL TO LIVE IN CELLARS IN STAMFORD Cellar Living Area

Housing Violations  No loose, flaking, and/or chipping paint  No holes or large cracks in the walls, ceilings, or floors

Housing Violations  Weathertight, water-tight, rodent proof foundations  Roof free from leaks  Dwelling unit free of insect and rodent infestations
