Algebra III / Geometry Welcome to my classroom Mr. Chance

Overview We use the Pearson Common Core Text Book Classroom Rules Absences Tardy Electronics Cheating

Grading Scales KSD Grade (% of overall grade) Category 10% Homework – As assigned from Geometry / Alg III Text Homework will be collected at random usually once or twice a chapter Combined into Test Category Quizzes – Written by KSD teachers and administered as needed to assess mastery of course content 90 % Chapter Tests – Taken at the end of each chapter, written by KSD teachers Counted as 2 test scores Final – A Comprehensive final covering content throughout the entire year

In this classroom…… Students are expected to come to class on time and prepared each day ▫This includes:  Laptop… charged or bring charger  paper, pencil and their notebook ▫Also includes completed homework Follow the directions the first time they are given ▫Be attentive and listen to teacher when I am talking ▫When you come into class began working on the daily entry as soon as the bells rings No food, or drink in classroom ▫This does not include bottled water Be respectful and courteous of others at all times. ▫Raise your hand if you have a question or comment ▫Stay on task during work time ▫Do not keep others from learning ▫Do not talk while either the teacher or another student is talking ▫Do not pack up prior to 1 minute before the bell

Procedures and Supplies This class is very routine. A three subject notebook for each quarter will be best ▫Vocabulary, Notes and Homework Pencils, erasers (mechanical pencils are great for this class). Graph paper (one pack is good). OPTIONAL: Scientific or graphing calculator. I recommend the TI-83 graphing model if you choose to get a graphing model however it is not mandatory

Website and Syllabus My Website ▫All notes and PowerPoints are found on my website in addition to other materials and reference sources The Syllabus is under the worksheet tab. It will be ed to all parents. To receive credit parents need to reply to the and let me know they have read the syllabus.

How Homework is turned in Geometry At the start of each chapter you will receive the work for the whole chapter. 70% of the assignments must be complete for you to be ABLE to take the test. Assignments are 10 points in and will go into the gradebook as a single assignment.

How homework is collected in Alg. III Each Friday there will be a single assignment collected at random. This means you never know which assignment from the week is collected but only one is collected. It is work 10 points.

Let’s take a break… In the next several slide you will see different pictures. Sometimes I will ask you to draw what you saw, or to talk to your table. The idea is to show you we all learn differently and see things different as well.

Picture #1 How many do you see?

Ready?!?

One more time!!!

So…. How many did you see? Turn to you’re A/B partner and A’s explain what you saw, how did you see it? what was the pattern? B’s, explain what your partner saw. Do not explain what you saw. Now B’s did you see something different? Go ahead and explain what you saw. A’s, repeat what your partner saw.

New Picture #2 How many do you see?

Ready?!?

Last Time!!!

New Picture #3 How many do you see?

Ready?!?

Do you need it again!?!

Draw it! This next slide will quickly show you a design. On your paper, I’d like to think about what you saw and then draw it. Ready? Set…. Go!

Draw it #1

Discussion Turn and share with your partner. Did you draw the same thing? Share with each other how you saw it. Here it is…. Were you correct?

Draw it #2

Discussion #2 Turn and share with your partner. Did you draw the same thing? Share with each other how you saw it. Here it is…. Were you correct?
