Curriculum and Materials Curriculum is based on PA standards for Social Studies Textbook: Harcourt Horizons World Regions Map skills; geography concepts; 5 Themes of Geography 5 Strands of Social Studies : History, Geography, Civics & Government, Culture & Society, Economics We Study: Western Hemisphere: United States, Canada, Mexico, Central America, Caribbean Islands, South America, Australia, and New Zealand

Procedures and Grading Textbook and notebook are used regularly in class. Important notes and vocabulary are kept in notebook Graphic organizers, worksheets, Discovery Education videos, and interactive whiteboard activities serve as supplementary materials. Students should keep all materials in a Social Studies folder. Necessary materials are expected to be brought to class daily. Assignments are to be recorded in the planner.

Graded assignments include: Quizzes Tests Class work (worksheets, graphic organizers)-Students are informed when the assignment is being collected and graded Projects: You will receive advance notice when a project is assigned. Some are research reports. Time is normally allotted to research and do most of the work during class time. Study guides are provided for major tests and quizzes. Provisions are made for students receiving learning support services.

Miscellaneous: Assignments, quizzes, tests, and projects are posted on the Homework Calendar and Homework Hotline. Absences-Students are expected to complete assignments they miss when absent. They are given time to make up work and are encouraged to seek help when needed. Use of a “Homework Buddy” is recommended. To contact me: Ext
