Community Service Opportunities  Red Cross Tsunami Relief Fund Garage Sale  PUSH America Empathy Dinner

Description of the Red Cross Tsunami Relief Fund Garage Sale  On December 26, 2004, the largest earthquake to strike the globe since 1964 rocked the ocean floor off the coast of Indonesia. The 9.0- magnitude quake triggered extremely large tsunami waves that brought massive flooding, swept away entire coastal villages, and took tens of thousands of lives with little or no warning throughout Southern Asia and coastal regions as far as Eastern Africa.  My fraternity PI KAPPA PHI organized a garage sale to raise money to help relieve the survivors of the tragedy.  I did 5 hours of my service learning by helping sell and organize our merchandise.  We ended up raising just over a thousand dollars.

Devastation Of Tsunami

 Push America, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, was founded by members of PI KAPPA PHI in 1977 and remains the exclusive service learning project of the Fraternity, with the purpose of instilling lifelong service in our members and serving people with disabilities.

PUSH America Empathy Dinner. The Empathy dinner is a program that is meant to raise money for PUSH America that enlightens people on different handicaps such as deafness, missing a limb, or blindness.  I helped send the invitations and also helped run the actual empathy dinner making sure everything went smoothly.
