3 – A child who attains a score of two (2) is showing progress. Your child demonstrates an understanding of concepts, 70-84% of the time, yet still needs some teacher direction and explanation. 1-A child who attains a score of one (1) is unable to demonstrate an understanding of concepts taught. Your child needs consistent teacher assistance and direction. This score is an area of concern because your child demonstrates success less than 70% of the time.

Introduction Who is Mrs. Long? Grew up in Kansas City Graduated from Southern Methodist University Masters Degree from University of Texas Married for 29 years Daughters- T.U. grad and T.C.U. grad. Son is an O.S.U. freshman. (all Jenks alums) Taught for 19 years, some part-time in grades 1-5, classroom and gifted education Have lived in Tulsa for 28 years Like to read, walk, tap dance, and relax on the porch at the lake

Reading Comprehension Toolkit Focuses on “reading as thinking” Supports time for shared reading, guided reading (small groups), independent reading, and collaborative discussion and sharing Matches students with “just right” reading texts (s.s, science articles, KD, TFK) CAFÉ – conferencing with students to help them target strategies to use in each area.

English/Writing Write Source- Language Handbook Sentences, Parts of Speech, Grammar, and Punctuation (daily with DLR) Writer’s Notebooks – process: gathering (choosing a seed), nurturing, drafting, revision, editing, publishing, celebrating Noticing/enjoying strong writing that we read
