Beginning with First Time 9 th Graders SY New requirements – Virtual Course: Advanced Studies & Standard Diploma – CTE Credential: Standard Academic and Career Plans: Start in Middle School Modified Standard Diploma is NOT an option – MSD is rolled into the Standard Diploma Terms You Need to Know: Standard Credit: Pass a class Verified Credit: Pass an end of course assessment (standards of learning aka SOL)

For Students with Disabilities Early start is best (first IEP in which the student turns 14) – Courses – Finding right supports/accommodations AIM, Assistive Technology – Self-determination – Work experience (predictor of postsecondary success) – Inclusion (predictor of postsecondary success) – Agency referral – FAPE – IEP follows the student through age 21 or until graduation with Adv or Standard Diploma
