Program Implementation Parent/Guardians MUST be involved in the child’s educational tract decision. Develop a standard assessment to be provided to students beginning in the 6 th grade to measure; Scholastic aptitude, Technical knowledge. Based off the 8 th grade assessment, students will be recommended to follow either the Academic or CTE tract. 8

Program Implementation (Continued) Education plans, listing the educational goals will be provided to the student and parent/guardian, based off the 8 th grade assessment. Correspond options to assessed education patterns to parents/guardians and students. Evaluate student progress mid-way through each academic year until graduation. After graduation, if academic and CTE track students need further remedial courses, refer them to community colleges. 9

What are the Benefits? Academic Awareness. Parents/Guardians can see a students assessed abilities. Improved Student Self- Esteem Offering students the ability to interact with their educational goal may produce an increased self-awareness and satisfaction. Technical Proficiency Students are better prepared to enter the workforce. Post Secondary Education Preparedness Students in either tract will be better prepared of two or four year academic establishments. 10

Drawbacks Resilience to change. Cost. Systematic monitoring of student progress. Creating suitable options for students who do not fit the assessed profile. 11
