Martin Luther King Jr. (January 15, 1929 - April 4, 1968) Martin Luther King Jr. was a civil rights activist. He was the leader in the African – American civil rights movement. He is known as a hero to many people around the world. His “I Have a Dream” speech, delivered on August 28, 1963, was about how he wanted racial equality and to end discrimination. By speaking the way he did he educated, and inspired many people not just at the place he spoke but all around the world too. He won the Noble Peace Prize for his amazing speech and movement.

Rosa Parks (February 4, 1913 – October 24, 2005) Rosa Parks was a civil rights activist. She was born in February 4, 1913. She refused to give up her seat to a white person. This promoted a city-wide boycott. This forced the city of Montgomery to get rid of the law of segregation on public buses.

Helen Keller (June 27, 1880 - June 1, 1968) Helen Keller received the presidential medal of freedom because living her life mostly because of raising money for the American Foundation for the Blind. She is recognized for being able to be blind and deaf and still do everyday things.

Amelia Earhart (July 24, 1897 - July 2, 1937) Amelia Earhart was always wanting to be a pilot as a little kid. She was determined to be the first woman to fly an airplane around the world. When she was flying over the Atlantic Ocean, she mysteriously disappeared, but most people say she crash landed into it. This inspired people at many ages. This made them believe that woman can do anything men can do. She proved something to the whole world.

Mother Teresa (August 25, 1910 - September 10, 1997) Mother Teresa was a Roman Catholic nun for Calcutta, India. Over 40 years ago she cared for the poor, sick, Orphaned, dying, and many more. She was a very nice, caring women who helped a lot of people. She had a charity called, The Missionaries of Charity, her charity had many missions including soup kitchens
