You Asked for It – Part 5

Choose how you will respond to the trials of life. How to Move Beyond Your Own Trials:

Philippians 4:4 (NLT) Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again—rejoice! Let everyone see that you are considerate in all you do. Remember, the Lord is coming soon.

Do not allow your trials to consume you. How to Move Beyond Your Own Trials:

Philippians 4:8 (NLT) Fix your thoughts on what is true and honorable and right. Think about things that are pure and lovely and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.

“Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see the shadow.” ~ Helen Keller “Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see the shadow.” ~ Helen Keller

Recognize that the strength to overcome comes from God. How to Move Beyond Your Own Trials:

2 Corinthians 12:7 (NLT) But to keep me from getting puffed up, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger from Satan to torment me and keep me from getting proud.

2 Corinthians 12:8-10 (NLT) Three different times I begged the Lord to take it away. Each time he said, “My gracious favor is all you need. My power works best in your weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ

2 Corinthians 12:8-10 (NLT) may work through me. Since I know it is all for Christ’s good, I am quite content with my weaknesses and with insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

“It is impossible for that man to despair who remembers that his Helper is omnipotent.” ~ Jeremy Taylor “It is impossible for that man to despair who remembers that his Helper is omnipotent.” ~ Jeremy Taylor

Philippians 4:11-13 (NLT) …I have learned how to get along happily whether I have much or little. I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full

Philippians 4:11-13 (NLT) stomach or empty, with plenty or little. For I can do everything with the help of Christ who gives me the strength I need.

Be thankful for your blessings. How to Move Beyond Your Own Trials:

Philippians 4:5-7 (NLT) Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. If you do this, you will experience God’s peace, which is far more

Philippians 4:5-7 (NLT) wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

Realize God may use your experience to help others. How to Move Beyond Your Own Trials:

2 Corinthians 1:4,6,8-9 (NLT) He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When others are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us… So when we are weighed down with

2 Corinthians 1:4,6,8-9 (NLT) troubles, it is for your benefit and salvation! For when God comforts us, it is so that we, in turn, can be an encouragement to you. Then you can patiently endure the same things we suffer….

2 Corinthians 1:4,6,8-9 (NLT) I think you ought to know, dear brothers and sisters, about the trouble we went through in the province of Asia. We were crushed and completely overwhelmed, and we thought we would never live through it. In

2 Corinthians 1:4,6,8-9 (NLT) fact, we expected to die. But as a result, we learned not to rely on ourselves, but on God who can raise the dead.

Galatians 6:2 (NLT) Share each other’s troubles and problems, and in this way obey the law of Christ.
