What is e-learning? “If someone is learning in a way that uses information and communication technologies (ICT), they are using e- learning.” A pre-school child playing an interactive game; A group of pupils collaborating on a history project with pupils in another country via the Internet; Geography students watching an animated diagram of a volcanic eruption their lecturer has just downloaded; A nurse taking her driving theory test online with a reading aid to help her dyslexia.

e-Learning in England - Dr Andy Tasker - eLSEE Estonia 2003

Why do we need a strategy? A lot of e-learning going on already, but not co-ordinated. E-learning is not embedded in our teaching and learning, at any level. Recognition of the benefits of e-learning to the way we teach and learn. Government has a responsibility to ensure that these benefits are universal.
