What is gossip? When people spread rumors about another person it is called gossip. Gossip is talking about something that is not your problem.
WHAT ARE SIMPLE MACHINES?.  You are doing work when you use a force to cause motion.  This kind of work has 2 parts: 1. Force: what is needed to do.

OUTLINE Motivation Introduction Problem statement Microcontroller Solution Results

MOTIVATION Moving requires a lot of strainious movement that can hurt you. Need at least 4 people to efficiently move in one day. I currently live in a third story apartment and soon will need to move out.

INTRODUCTION Past experience tells us all how painful it can be to move. Paying someone to move your belongings can be costly, besides the issue of trusting someone else with your things.

PROBLEM STATEMENT How can this process be made easier on the people moving. How to move heavier items without having to pay someone else to do it.

PROPOSED SOLUTION Take some metal bars. A garage door opener. Go to parallax and get some nice sensors and a microcontroller. Put it all together to control the crane's stopping at the top and bottom.

PROPOSED SOLUTION cont. Hall Effect Sensor.

PROPOSED SOLUTION cont. PING, Ultrasonic Distance Sensor

PROPOSED SOLUTION cont. Lalim, “Parrallel Port Control Basic” Server side.

PROPOSED SOLUTION cont. Micro- controller program. Lalim, client side.

PROPOSED SOLUTION cont. Controlling the garage door opener limiters.

PROPOSED SOLUTION cont. Basic Stamp 2sx micro- controller with all the headaches included.

RESULTS Motor seems to heat up, but it is functional and capable of lifting 200 lbs. (anyone need to move?)

CONCLUSIONS This is a great tool for lifting anything under 200 lbs. And moving it around (when I put wheels on the crane). I have learnt 10,000 ways how not to make an operable crane, (Thomas Edison), and about an hour ago one way to make it work.

CONCLUSIONS cont. It has been a great experience to put all the previous knowledge of this major together to build something and most of all seeing it work.

FUTURE WORK In the future maybe someone could make this better by making the crane mobile, so that the load may be transported to another location. Comments, question?

Thanks Special thanks to: Professors Kilgore, Vigs, Richardson. Chen for the soldering. Landon, Dylan and Danny for making the crane structure.
