Blackboard 9 Development Goal: Fewer Clicks to Access Course Tools. Everything can be reached from the course home screen. In the Instructor View (what you see by default when you login), the Control Panel is displayed below the Course Toolbar on the left of your screen. There is no longer a separate control Panel. Something new is the Edit Mode, indicated by a toggle switch in the upper right of your screen: It is set to off when you enter your course but when you click it, it turns on. With the Edit Mode set to on, you can edit any of your course areas – Announcements, Contacts, etc. – right on the same screen. This saves some clicks.
In BB 8, Announcements was the Entry Point of your course.
In BB 9 it is a new screen called Home Page (although you can reset it to open at Announcements if you wish)
The Home Page has lots of modules in it that can be useful, especially if you use the Early Warning System or other tools such as the Course Calendar, Tasks, etc.
