RABBET JOINT The Rabbet Joint is: an L-shaped cut along the end or edge of a board. a wood joint that can be built with hand or power tools. formed by fitting the end or edge of one piece into a rabbet cut at the end or edge of another piece. commonly used in the construction of drawers, cases, and cabinet frames.

TOOLS NEEDED You will need the following items to make a Rabbet Joint. Of course do not forget your eye protection. Check mitre gauge with a try square.

RABBET JOINT LAYOUT Marking the width of the rabbet. The finished rabbet joint. Please note that the cut should be made so the joint is hidden from the front.

RABBET JOINT LAYOUT Measure the thickness of your wood with a ruler, and draw a line half that measurement. With machine locked out. Put your piece of wood beside the blade so you can set the blade height.

RABBET JOINT LAYOUT With machine still locked out. Use a ruler to set the width of your cut, from the fence to the outside edge of the stacking dado blades. Which is equal to the thickness of either ‘C’ or ‘D’ pieces.

RABBET JOINT TEST CUT Do your test cut on a scrap piece of pine.

CUTTING A RABBET JOINT Cut a rabbet joint on wood pieces ‘A’ & ‘B’
