Abram’s Journey of Faith
The call of faith
Abram’s Journey of Faith And Stephen said: “Brothers and fathers, hear me. The God of glory appeared to our father Abraham when he was in Mesopotamia, before he lived in Haran, and said to him, ‘Go out from your land and from your kindred and go into the land that I will show you.’ Then he went out from the land of the Chaldeans and lived in Haran.. (Acts 7:2-3 ESV)
Abram’s Journey of Faith Terah took Abram his son and Lot the son of Haran, his grandson, and Sarai his daughter-in-law, his son Abram's wife, and they went forth together from Ur of the Chaldeans to go into the land of Canaan, but when they came to Haran, they settled there. The days of Terah were 205 years, and Terah died in Haran. (Genesis 11:31-32 ESV)
Abram’s Journey of Faith Then he went out from the land of the Chaldeans and lived in Haran. And after his father died, God removed him from there into this land in which you are now living. (Acts 7:4 ESV) So Abram went, as the LORD had told him, and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed from Haran. And Abram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother's son, and all their possessions that they had gathered, and the people that they had acquired in Haran, and they set out to go to the land of Canaan. (Genesis 12:4-5 ESV)
Now the LORD said to Abram, “Go from your country and your kindred and your father's house to the land that I will show you. And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” (Genesis 12:1-3 ESV) THREEFOLD PROMISE OF THE LORD’S COVENANT 1.Blessing for all the families of the earth 2.Making him into a great nation 3.Giving Abram the land of Canaan

So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. (James 2:17 ESV) Do you want to be shown, you foolish person, that faith apart from works is useless? (James 2:20 ESV) You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone. (James 2:24 ESV)

3 Times We Find Abram at the Altar Abram passed through the land to the place at Shechem, to the oak of Moreh. At that time the Canaanites were in the land. Then the LORD appeared to Abram and said, “To your offspring I will give this land.” So he built there an altar to the LORD, who had appeared to him. (Genesis 12:6-7 ESV) 1. Celebrating the covenant give by God
3 Times We Find Abram at the Altar And he journeyed on from the Negeb as far as Bethel to the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Bethel and Ai, to the place where he had made an altar at the first. And there Abram called upon the name of the LORD. (Genesis 13:3-4 ESV) 2. In thanks after his safe return from Egypt
3 Times We Find Abram at the Altar The LORD said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him, “Lift up your eyes and look from the place where you are, northward and southward and eastward and westward, for all the land that you see I will give to you and to your offspring forever. I will make your offspring as the dust of the earth, so that if one can count the dust of the earth, your offspring also can be counted. Arise, walk through the length and the breadth of the land, for I will give it to you.” So Abram moved his tent and came and settled by the oaks of Mamre, which are at Hebron, and there he built an altar to the LORD. (Genesis 13:14-18 ESV) 3. To honor his relationship with the Lord
Abram’s Journey of Faith The call of faith The destination of faith The worship of faith The vision of faith These all died in faith, not having received the things promised, but having seen them and greeted them from afar, and having acknowledged that they were strangers and exiles on the earth. (Hebrews 11:13 ESV )
Abram desired a better country, a heavenly one For people who speak thus make it clear that they are seeking a homeland. If they had been thinking of that land from which they had gone out, they would have had opportunity to return. But as it is, they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared for them a city. (Hebrews 11:14-16 ESV)
To die this way, one must walk this way Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. (Hebrews 11:1 ESV) for we walk by faith, not by sight. (2 Corinthians 5:7 ESV) F A I T H

When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. (Colossians 3:1-4 ESV)
