A NEW YORK STATE FUNDED EARLY CHILDHOOD PROGRAM LEWISTON-PORTER UNIVERSAL PRE-KINDERGARTEN

The UPK program is designed to encourage our young learners to use language within their daily lives to explore and experience their environment.

Through a variety of oral language experiences, the children will:  Develop early emergent reading skills

 Develop early emergent math skills

 Become problem solvers

 Foster a need for self-expression

 Develop appropriate social skills and learn how to make good choices

 and have fun!!!!

Special areas include gym, library, and earobics. Art and music are integrated into the daily classroom routine.

Magic Penny Reading Program Magic Penny is phonemic- based early literacy program 20 minutes a day of differentiated instruction designed to teach children the basic fundamentals of phonemic (letter sound) awareness that lead them to reading success Parent-Teacher partnership

Parents are a very important part of a child’s success at school  Read to your child everyday  Encourage communication  Ask questions and answer questions  Listen to your child  Play with your child  Get involved
