Hot Wheels Phonics blending: student race a car to each red light stops reads the word then goes to the next light. © Sandboxliteracy.com 2014

Materials: Printed sheet, a few Hot Wheels cars. Directions: Students start on the top track each red word is a stop light they zoom their car to the first light stop. “Sound effects encouraged.” Read the word then speed to the next stop light. When they get to the end of the line turn and zoom back on the green arrow express way. Turn and repeat the next stop light road. First student to the end of the last track wins.
