CTAP 295- Final Presentation David Biggers Chowchilla Union High School

Introduction – Who am I?  Ag Teacher  FFA Advisor  Cattleman  Contact Info: –Chowchilla High School 805 Humboldt Avenue Chowchilla, CA  My website: /teacher_sites/juarezra/public_html/teacher/ /teacher_sites/juarezra/public_html/teacher/

Expectations…  To design and develop a website that would be an aid to our ag students as they entered the job world.Once I started the course I found that it was hard to follow the CTAP requirements.  As I complete this course I want to design a website for the courses I teach.

Actual Learning…  I learned how to do research using the internet.  I learned how to use my computer more skillfully.  I learned how to attack and fix computer problems and challenges.

Successes & Shortcomings…  The lesson was successful in that the students found a tool that they could see as useful for them in the immediate future. The material offered was pertinent to them to the point where they voiced their approval of the lesson many times.  Shortcomings were few, definitely a winner!

Successes “In a Nutshell”…  Satisfaction for both student and teacher.  Using technology and human skills for personal gain  Learning by doing

Shortcomings “In a Nutshell”…  Not enough computers for all students  Internet site address changes  Time constraints

Student Data…  This graph is showing the improvement in the student’s knowledge about interview skills. Students did show marked improvement after the pre- test.

Revision Summary..  The student data was helpful to determine whether the students learned the material.  The following revisions were helpful when it came time to implement the lesson: rubric development, refining the objectives, and aligning the activities to the objectives.

Suggested Revisions… RevisionsSuggestions ObjectivesRefinement RubricAlign with the lesson objectives ActivitiesModify to meet refined objectives

Conclusion… Many of our students leaving high school are entering the job market. For most, without adequate training and guidance, this can be extremely intimidating and frustrating. I firmly believe, this lesson on personal job interview skills will have a direct impact on many of those students. Many students have the ability to perform well at a chosen job. The hard part is obtaining that job when they are in direct competition with others. This lesson will give them the added tool needed to compete at a high level.
