The Road to Agriculture PowerPoint

Before we were all farmers, all Homo sapiens were… Hunters and Gatherers

When we learned how to domesticate animals, we were able to raise them and not rely on hunting anymore.

When we learned how to domesticate plants (and animals), farming or agriculture began.

Agriculture is another name for farming.

When early humans started to farm they needed to stay in one place. to watch their crops. If you grow more than is needed, you can have a surplus of food.

When people aren’t worried about surviving everyday of their lives, they have time to develop CULTURE.

Here is the process that led to Culture:

Agriculture Song: (Sung to “This Land is Your Land”) We started as hunters and sometimes gathered. Then started farming (I mean agriculture)…and now we stay put to watch our crops grow…a surplus is enough for you and me!
