What is a Registered Org? A group of enrolled students gathered together for a common purpose Registration versus recognition Membership is limited to UH students(main campus), faculty, staff & alumni Only need 3 students to start an organization
ADVISORS What should you look for in an advisor – Someone who supports your organization and the members – They should understand your mission and will keep your history – They should help to create a connection with offices and departments on campus – Builds recognition across campus and in the community Is an advisor “required” ? – No Will an advisor be “required” soon? – Perhaps

EVENT REGRISTRATION “Event Registration” Permits – Temporary Food Dealer, Open Flame, Tent Must have a reservation first
FUNDING – Activities Funding Board Reimbursement for On Campus Programs and Conference Travel –
* AFB works primarily on a reimbursement basis – Meaning funds are reimbursed only after the program or conference takes place * AFB allocates funds only to registered student organizations * Funding is for two areas: – Programs – Conferences How does AFB work?
An authorized student representative from the organization must attend an AFB hearing to present the Allocation Request to AFB. How to Apply? 4 week Rule – Turn in Applications 4 weeks in advance. Forms can be found online by going to All allocation requests must be reviewed by an Advisor On Call in the Center for Student Involvement before being submitted to AFB.
2) All receipts must be turned in at the same time, not in batches or on different days. How to be Reimbursed? If approved: 1) Turn in Receipts no later than 10 days after the program/conference 3) The organization must submit original receipts

BANK You can use any bank of choice for your org You will need to make sure to keep you officers updated with the bank You need to keep the check book and statements in a safe location
PROMOTIONS Posting Locations – Over 100 locations across campus – ONE posting per board – Must have student org name/logo on the posting – Cleared by Alpha Phi Omega the 1 st and 3 rd Tuesday of each month at 4pm Sidewalk Chalk – not permitted Banners – UC – Satellite Yard Signs – must have University sponsorship
WEB SERVICES Web Based Services – On-line Forms – Links to Org information – Up-to-date Database Web & Accounts – Campus sponsorship for address and listservs (forms at CSI front desk) – Renew your sites – do you know if you have an old site?
MAIL Must have either a mail box or mail code Mailboxes – Located behind the front desk in the Center for Student Involvement – Must be checked at least once a week Mail Codes – 4-digit codes that deliver mail to a certain office/building/department on campus
OFFICE/CARREL SPACE Applications available “Services - for Student Organizations” There is a waiting list – spaces are awarded in date order Carrel – 5 hours/week Office – 15 hours/week
COKE Exclusive beverage contract – Contract was just re-signed for another 10 years – Only exception – if you are bringing your own beverage to a meeting/event – personal beverage Coke Donation Program – – “Vending Services – Beverage Donation Form”
