Initial Effect Last Decade Computers have really evolved and emerged in classrooms Ten years ago debate broke out whether computers are beneficial in classrooms. Teachers difficulty accepting new methods of teaching

Internet Use at Home Computer – powerful tool for students to have access to Tremendous in computers in households 65% of US children use the Internet compared to 59% in % Preschool children are online compared to 6% in 2000.

Internet Use at Home – Cont. One in five children log onto Internet everyday for Educational purposes. 64% of teenagers report education as part of their weekly online experience. 81% of parents believe the Internet is valuable to their children’

Technology Enhances Student Learning Two Improvement Strategies in Schools: The increase in instructional technology Integrating content across the curriculum Teachers must have preparation and follow-up in order for technology to be effective Teachers capabilities in computers is important

Technology Enhances Student Learning – Cont. The future is beginning to divide learning from bookish lectures to computer-centered teaching. Computers are the future of teaching – People must learn to accept it. Technology can not work by itself – Still need teachers and they have to become familiar with the technology Research has shown that computers have positive effects on students performances.

Distance Learning Students from different remote locations have same learning opportunities Students can expand their awareness about the world – easy access to information that would be otherwise tough to obtain Student is disabled – has ability to learn from home without traveling

Technology Improves Students Attitudes Huge affect on middle level students learning ability and their attitudes and self- concepts in relation to learning Makes learning much more exciting Students learn best when actively engaged in content Technology allows students to make a hands-on approach to solving problems

Conclusion Many advantages for the school, teachers, and students Technology can not work by itself Teachers must take time to understand it in order for it to be effective Teaching and learning techniques will change If one looks at what is happening in the business world today, one should realize how important education and implementation of the new technology is to students.
