THE AIMS

Percentage of year-olds using various substances in their lifetime by sex, Wales, 2009 United Kingdom drug situation: annual report to the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA) 2011.

Cannabis Steroids Melanotan NRG-1 Mephedrone MJS Synthetic Cathinones Many New Emerging Drugs (NEDs) contain mixes of illegal drugs and ignorance isn't an excuse for possession Information about NEDs on the Internet is not always reliable. The people who produce these drugs are only interested in profit, not your well-being. Many of these ‘on sale’ drugs are labelled ‘not for human consumption’ so that dealers (sellers or suppliers) can get around the law and avoid responsibility for any negative consequences or risks. New Emerging Drugs (NEDs) can be stronger than illegal drugs; they are often purer as they are cheap to produce and need not be cut with anything else. These drugs have not been properly tested to see how toxic they are to humans so there is no way of telling how a psychoactive drug will affect you. We know nothing about the medium or long term effects of using these drugs With illegal and new unclassified drugs the content is not guaranteed and there are no guidelines for consumption. Taking them is a very big risk.

30% of year 7 pupils reported being bullied 15% of year 10 pupils reported being bullied. Approximately 8% of those surveyed reported that the bullying had lasted for about or over a year 1 in 10 calls to the Welsh MEIC helpline are calls to report bullying (2012) 46% of 11 to 18 year olds said they had been bullied in school (All-Wales Survey of Bullying in Schools 2009)

Any incident or pattern of incidents of controlling, coercive or threatening behaviour, violence or abuse between those aged 16 or over who are or have been intimate partners or family members regardless of gender or sexuality.

Recent research (2012) by CAADA revealed: 62% of the victims were at risk of serious harm or murder. 76% experiencing physical abuse 44% experiencing physical abuse of a high severity such as broken bones or strangulation 78% experienced controlling behaviour 53% had been stalked or harassed 22% had experienced sexual abuse. As a consequence: 27% of the victims had self harmed 25% had experienced mental health issues 21% had threatened or attempted suicide. ( Information collected from 183 under 18 year old victims over 2 years )

Research tells us that: Social networking is being driven by smart phones 47% + of teenagers have a smart phone, with social networking being one of the most popular activities, accounting for over 20% of their online time 60 % claim to be addicted to the technology 85% of year olds access the Internet daily and a significant part (over 20%) of their time involves social networking 88% of self-generated, sexually explicit online images and videos of young people are taken from their original location and uploaded onto other websites Almost 22% of reports to CEOP in 2011/12 related to the distribution of SGII s. 1/3 rd of these were under 15 years of age 1 in 4 children, when upset by online risk, choose to ignore the problem and hope it will go away Only 15 % of young people reported problems when it related to sexual imagery and only 9% reported when it related to bullying.
