Effective Presentations A look back at some ideas from the past

When speaking in public touch not that which is not covered by your clothes.

You can speak well if your tongue can deliver the message of your heart. Speak seldom, but to important subjects …

Say what you are going to say. Say it. Say what you said.

He would vary the elements of his voice. He would start with a slow, laconic voice and then switch gears to a more rapid pace. People were light-headed after listening to him!

Keep it simple and to the point. Of the 265 words in the Gettysburg Address, 194 are of one syllable.

Use a good model. Remember the Gettysburg address? Similarly, the Twenty- third Psalm, which Lincoln could repeat from memory, has 118 words in all, 92 of these being of one syllable.

"Most people die at the age of twenty-five but they are not buried until they are sixty-five." Now for some quotable quotes

“It takes your enemy and your friend, working together, to hurt you to the heart; the one to slander you and the other to get the news to you.”

“Keep your eyes on the stars, but remember to keep your feet on the ground.”

Reporter: Mr. Gandhi what do you think of Western civilization? Gandhi: I think it would be a good idea.
