Warm Up Wednesday, 11/5 Today we will be downloading our proposals from Google Docs and then uploading them to a database called JotForm. So, carefully acquire a Chrome Book, find and open your proposal, and wait for further instructions.

Step-by-step Instructions  To Download your proposal: 1. While in Google Docs, click on “file” and then “download as” a PDF Document (.pdf). 2. Save the file, wherever you can save it. Name it LASTNAME_SRP_Proposal

Step-by-step Instructions (2) 1. Open up the school’s website 2. Go to the “Students” pulldown menu. 3. Go down to “Senior Projects” slot, and then to “JotForm.” 4. Fill out the form, and then upload your senior proposal (the one you just downloaded). 5. Hit submit, and you’re done!

Learning Targets  To review content from Ch. 7 of Catcher in the Rye.  Assess Holden’s stage of moral development as illustrated in chapter 7.  To revisit Kohlberg’s theory of moral development, and assess its usefulness in understanding characters in the text.

Quick Review of Chapter 7  What happens during chapter 7?  Any questions while reading?

Group Work 1. With 2-3 other students, review your notes for chapter 7. Pay close attention this time to the character’s motivation. 2. Based on what all group members have written down, assess the stage at which you feel Holden is operating in chapter 7. Have at least two quotations to support your claim (if the ones that you found for homework apply, then use those!).

Kohlberg’s Theory/Usefulness of the theories You have been introduced to three psychological theories that we will use to better understand characters in texts. Over the next few days, we will assess each theory’s usefulness for our purposes. 1. Create a new page in your journal. 2. Title it “Usefulness of Psychological Theories.” 3. Create four columns. 4. Title the Leftmost column “Kohlberg Moral Development.” 5. In this column, answer these questions:  Can you describe this theory in 1-2 sentences? If so, do it!  On a scale of 1-5, 5 being the most useful, assess how helpful this theory is in helping you to better understand the characters. Write a quick explanation.  Label 1-2 aspects that are helpful to you, and anything about this theory that makes it less useful to you.

Homework  Read chapters 8 & 9 of Catcher in the Rye and TAKE NOTES (see the blog for the notes format).
