Why a conference? We needed to do something different To create free discussion To allow expression of thoughts and feelings To share important values of the Christian life To allow new folk to share their thoughts To build friendships To bring the corps together

What do you have to do You need to pray asking God for guidance You need to prepare yourself You need to think about your own response to God We want spiritual outcomes We want people to feel challenged We want people to engage with Planned Giving

What else do you have to do? You need to look at the Program Kit and get an understanding of it’s contents You need to read through the Kit Facilitate Discussion

Practicalities Be early Assist set up Check your table and have enough chairs Welcome your group, individually Smile and be Enthusiastic Talk up the night, fight negativity Thank them for attending and sharing

Practicalities cont… Find out who is in your group Get the Kit for these people from Consultant on the night Make sure people are looked after, comfortable Have enough Delegate Brochures for your group Be purposeful, be sincere

What we want delegates to learn That 100% reliance on God, means giving of our resources That we can all contribute to local mission That we can hamper the mission That giving is an expression of love to God That God uses individuals to attain the corps mission/vision That each Christian has a ministry

Will everyone get these messages? No! But many will Some of the discussion may be the most valuable element of the program for some people We have not always done ‘mission’ well We rarely assert our ministry within the ‘priesthood of all believers.’

The end result We want people to leave feeling that they have had a chance to share We want them to feel they have engaged in meaningful discussion We want them to continue talking long after the conference is over We want people to look for additional answers in their Kits
