What is The various visual phenomena that are the results of the reflection or absorption of light by a surface. Color has three properties: Hue, Value, and Intensity.

Property of color that refers to the intrinsic “color” of a color. The name of the color (blue, red, yellow, green, orange, violet).

The lightness (tint) or darkness (shade) of a color.

What are tints and shades? Add any color to white to get a tint…

What are tints and shades? Add black to any color to get a shade…

The property of color that refers to the brightness or dullness of a color. It is influenced by how pure the color is, and is RELATIVE.

Colors that have certain likenesses or differences. PRIMARY COLORS- Colors that cannot be made by mixing any other colors. Naturally occurring colors

SECONDARY COLORS Colors that are made by mixing two PRIMARY colors.

Violet Green Orange

Red + Blue = Violet

Red + Yellow = Orange

Blue + Yellow = Green

Colors obtained by mixing a PRIMARY color and an adjacent SECONDARY color. Always say the PRIMARY color FIRST.

Use only PRIMARY, SECONDARY and NEUTRAL COLORS! Use CARMINE for red, GRASS GREEN for green and DARK BLUE for blue. DO NOT USE LIGHT BLUE, DARK GREEN, VERMILLION OR INDIAN RED
