My Learning Web site Jesse Barnett EDTE 506

How to start? After looking at and joining many page creation sites I found Zunal.net and was very happy with what it had to offer. I started by making a teacher homepage which had templates designed with teachers in mind. After this was finished I started on a web quest from Zunal.net, which I was able to link to my teacher homepage.

My Webquest I decided to have the students learn to use power point. My students have all used computers but have little experience with presentation software. My students do many presentations during the year.

Title page Title: How to use PowerPoint for Pacific Johnson students Description: In this Web quest you will learn how Mr. Barnett would like you to use PowerPoint this year for you in class presentations. Author: Barnett, Jesse Grade Level: 9-12 Curriculum: Technology Keywords: slides, transitions, importing, saving, template

Introduction Doctors, Lawyers, and the president use it. Teachers teach with it, students present their learning with it, sales representatives sell with it, and Microsoft makes money with it. What are we talking about? By now you should know that this web quest is about using PowerPoint. This year as a class we will all be using PowerPoint to present our projects and much of our group work. I expect all of you to learn the basics from this web quest and to become more advanced as the year progresses. Thank you. -Mr. Barnett

Process I gave the students 8 steps with many sub- steps to complete a power point. I also included links to tutorials found on the internet for specific skills, such as transitions. I required students to focus on 5 aspects of their live and to makes slides about them with graphics and transitions. I am using this as a first week project and for the students to introduce themselves to each other.

Conclusion Hopefully you have learned some of the basics of PowerPoint and have some familiarity with using PowerPoint now. We will be using PowerPoint for many presentations this year, so if you do not feel like you have it figured out yet do not worry. You will soon!

Teacher Page I created this page to give my students an introduction to using web quest and making power point presentations and as a beginning of the year assignment to get to know everyone. I expect it to take about 5 class periods to complete.
