Welcome to Dutchman Creek Middle School

Mr. Williams- Principal It is my distinct pleasure to serve as the principal of Dutchman Creek, Rock Hill School District’s newest middle school. I am excited about building a foundation for our facility and working to create a dynamic learning organization

A Busier Schedule - Students will have 7 classes per day: *Math*Science*Language Arts *Social Studies*Enrichment *PE/Health*Elective(s) Elective Choices - *Band (year-long)*Chorus (year-long) *Orchestra (year-long) *Home Arts*Art*Theater Arts *Spanish*French*Careers and Tech. *Computer Technology*Piano

What is Enrichment?  More opportunities for direct instruction! What we will work on: PASS (Palmetto Assessment of State Standards) MAP (Measure of Academic Progress) “Failure is Not an Option” philosophy Opportunities to explore a different elective.

Grading Scale 93 – 100 = A 85 – 92 = B 77 – 84 = C 70 – 76 = D

Standard Code of Dress  Shirts: Any solid colored polo or collared shirt (shirts should not have logos, stripes, etc.)  Pants/Shorts/Skirts: Navy, black, or khaki

Dress Down Days  Students will have opportunities to dress down.

Schedules  Students will receive their schedules in the mail approximately 1 week before school begins. Opportunities to visit the campus will be provided prior to the first day of school.  Please come with your child the first day and celebrate his/her first day of middle school – August 18, 2009.

Course Selection Sheets  Soon you and your child will be choosing his/her classes for 6 th grade. The course selection sheet looks like…..course selection sheet

Discipline – Folder System  All teams will work on the folder system. Behavior addressed  1 st time: Warning  2 nd time: In Class Isolation  3 rd time: Out of Class Isolation During Out of Class Isolation, students will complete a folder of questions. Parents will be contacted after each folder. After the third folder, a parent conference will be requested. Once Students have received 3 folders, students will be sent to the assistant principal’s office with a referral.

Transportation Information  DCMS will open at 7:45 a.m.  Students will begin to transition to their homebase at 8:20 a.m.  Class begins at 8:30 a.m.  Car-riders should enter/exit via the Mt. Gallant Road entrance.  The Car pool lane is behind the school. Parents should enter/exit via the Museum Road entrance.  Bus-riders should enter/exit via the Museum Road entrance.  Feel free to contact the Transportation Complex at if you have questions.
