Examining the essay  1. Would the writer agree with someone who said the space program does not help ordinary people? Why or why not? NO, the writer would not agree with someone who said the space program does not help ordinary people, because the writer believes that the space program creates a need for technological advances. These advances are used in other ways that help people.

Examining the essay  2. What are some of the benefits that space exploration has produced? Space exploration has produced satellite technology, and many advances in computer technology and robot technology.

Examining the essay  3. Why do so many technological advances come from space exploration and not other industries? Space exploration is very complicated and difficult, and therefore it results in more complex technological advances than normal industries require.

Examining the essay  4. According to the writer, what is the opinion of people who do not support space exploration? The writer believes that people do not support space exploration because they may think space exploration is an expensive luxury that takes money away from other programs, such as health care and education.

Wonderful new inventions such as satellites and computers are just a beginning, and in the future space exploration will provide useful and amazing new inventions that we cannot even imagine.
