NCT/Delhi Removal of garbage and sanitation work

Scope of audit Audit test checked the record maintained in two workshops; compost plant and in ten out of 14 circles of the New Delhi Municipal Corporation;

Scope of audit representing 71 per cent of total circles, during the period to ; with a view to examining whether the lifting of garbage in the New Delhi Municipal Council area was done efficiently and economically.

NCT/Delhi Management of Forests

Scope of audit The records maintained by Environment, Forest & Wild Life department relating to various activities of forest management for the period to were test checked in audit at headquarters of the department and in all the three divisions in order to examine the schemes/plans implemented by the department, during June to August 2000.

State/West Bengal Improper disposal of biomedical waste by medical establishments

Audit scope A test check was conducted in Howrah Municipal Corporation (HMC) to review compliance of the rules regarding the disposal of biomedical wastes by the private establishment and a Government Hospital located in the HMC area, during March 2000.

State/West Bengal Working of Forest Department

Audit scope Functioning of the forest department was reviewed in audit through test- check of records of the Secretariat, Directorate, 2 Chief Conservators of Forests, 8 Conservators of Forest and 28 Divisional offices for the period from (approximately 53 per cent of the offices have been test checked.)

States Implementation of Environmental Acts relating to Water Pollution

Audit scope The principal aim of audit was to assess the degree of compliance shown in the enforcement of the law, rules and regulations governing pollution control. A test check of records in 20 states relating to survey, water quality and schemes undertaken for treating the water along with Central and State Schemes implemented ;

Audit scope Audit reviewed the steps taken by the hospitals in Delhi to implement the Bio- medical Waste Management Rules.

Audit scope The accounts and records for the period of 22 out of 79 divisions (in which the Forest Development component was executed)) and the Project Director`s office were test checked during the period between December 2000 and April 2001.
