1 2 God Isaac God promised Abraham that He would make him the father of many nations. Isaac was the child of that promise. Prayed for his wife Rebekah, because she was childless. God answered his prayer and gave them two sons, Esau and Jacob.

3 4 Jacob Jacob/Esau Fought with each other in their mother’s womb. God told Rebekah that Jacob would rule over his older brother, Esau. Name means, “He deceives.” Tricked Esau into selling Jacob the birthright of the firstborn son.

Esau Rebekah And Jacob Threatened to kill his brother, Jacob. 5 6 Rebekah And Jacob Esau Threatened to kill his brother, Jacob. Tricked Isaac into giving Esau’s blessings to Jacob.

7 8 Rebekah God Tricked her husband, Isaac, into sending Jacob away to find a wife among her brother’s people. Promised land to Jacob in a dream and told him that he would have many descendants.

Fell in love with Rachel as soon as he saw her. 9 10 Jacob Jacob Fell in love with Rachel as soon as he saw her. Worked for Laban for seven years in order to marry his daughter, Rachel.

Tricked Jacob into marrying Rachel’s older sister, Leah. 11 12 Laban Jacob Tricked Jacob into marrying Rachel’s older sister, Leah. Was angry with Laban but agreed to work for Laban for seven more years so that he could marry Rachel, too.

15 16 Jacob Rachel/Leah Competed with each other to see who could have the most sons for Jacob. Ran away from Laban. Laban chased him, but God warned Laban in a dream not to hurt Jacob.

Wrestled with God until God gave Jacob a blessing. 18 17 Esau Jacob Forgave his brother Jacob, because he had been very blessed by God over the years they were apart. Wrestled with God until God gave Jacob a blessing.

19 20 God Simeon/Levi Took revenge on people who hurt their sister, Dinah, by killing all the men in the town. Allowed Rachel to die giving birth to Benjamin, Jacob’s youngest child.

Jacob Joseph Loved Joseph more than any of his other children. 22 21 Joseph Jacob Told his father about the bad things his brothers had been doing. Loved Joseph more than any of his other children.

Hated Joseph because their father loved him more. 23 24 Joseph’s Brothers Joseph Had two prophetic dreams that showed he would one day rule over his family. Hated Joseph because their father loved him more.

Sent Joseph to check on his brothers and bring him back a report. 27 28 Jacob Jacob Made a special coat of many colors for Joseph, because Joseph was his favorite. Sent Joseph to check on his brothers and bring him back a report.

Served Potiphar faithfully and honored God. 31 32 Midianites Joseph Sold Joseph as a slave to Potiphar, the Egyptian and captain of the guard for Pharoah. Served Potiphar faithfully and honored God.

Was with Joseph and gave him success in everything that he did. 33 34 God Potiphar Was with Joseph and gave him success in everything that he did. Put Joseph in charge of everything in his household and trusted him with everything he owned.

Tried to get Joseph to kiss her. 35 36 Potiphar’s Wife Joseph Refused to sin against Potiphar and God and avoided Potiphar’s wife whenever possible. Tried to get Joseph to kiss her.

Put Joseph in the prison where the king’s prisoners were kept. 37 38 Potiphar’s Wife Potiphar Put Joseph in the prison where the king’s prisoners were kept. Lied about Joseph to her husband and said that Joseph tried to kiss her.

Was with Joseph and gave him success in everything that he did. 39 40 Joseph God Served the prison warden faithfully and honored God while he was in prison. Was with Joseph and gave him success in everything that he did.

The Cupbearer & the Baker 45 46 The Cupbearer & the Baker Joseph Noticed their sadness, asked to hear their dreams and then interpreted them. He asked the cupbearer to remember him when he returned to Pharaoh. Both had dreams on the same night, but they were sad because they didn’t know what the dreams meant.

Forgot about Joseph for two years. 48 47 Pharaoh The Cupbearer Restored the cupbearer and killed the baker, just as Joseph had predicted. Forgot about Joseph for two years.

Had two dreams that worried him. 51 49 Pharaoh The Cupbearer Had two dreams that worried him. Remembered Joseph and told Pharaoh about his ability to interpret dreams.

Called for Joseph to come to interpret his dreams. 50 52 Pharaoh Pharaoh Called all his magicians and wise men, but no one could interpret the dreams. Called for Joseph to come to interpret his dreams.

53 54 Joseph Pharaoh Interpreted Pharaoh’s dreams and gave him advice about how to prepare for the coming famine. Put Joseph in charge of all of Egypt, gave him his official ring, robes, chain and chariot and gave him a wife.

Sent Joseph’s brothers to Egypt to get food for the family. 56 57 Joseph Jacob Managed the food in Egypt well so that no one had to starve during the famine. Sent Joseph’s brothers to Egypt to get food for the family.

Allowed a famine throughout all of the world. 55 58 God Joseph Allowed a famine throughout all of the world. Recognized his brothers when they came to buy grain but didn’t reveal his identity.

Joseph Joseph’s Brothers 59 60 Joseph Joseph’s Brothers Tested his brothers to see if his younger brother, Benjamin, was still alive. Returned home to get Benjamin, but they had to leave Simeon, who was put into prison.

Jacob Joseph’s Brothers 61 62 Jacob Joseph’s Brothers Didn’t want to let his sons take Benjamin, but he finally gave in when they got too hungry. Returned to Egypt with Benjamin and two times the money needed to pay for food.

Tested his brothers one more time to see if their hearts had changed. 63 64 Joseph Judah Tested his brothers one more time to see if their hearts had changed. Offered to be Joseph’s slave if Joseph would just let Benjamin and the others go.

Approved for Joseph’s family to live in the best part of Egypt. 65 66 Joseph Pharaoh Revealed his identity to his brothers and sent them back to get their father and bring him to Egypt. Approved for Joseph’s family to live in the best part of Egypt.

Brought his whole family to Egypt. 67 68 Jacob Joseph Reunited with his father and family and received his father’s blessing. Brought his whole family to Egypt.

69 70 Joseph Moses Forgave his brothers for the terrible things they had done to him. Led the Hebrews out of Egypt and into the Promised Land.
