Where alligators live  A alligator will live in mostly lakes, swamps, and rivers along the Gulf of Mexico and on the Atlantic coast as far as North Carolina.

Eating Habits  Alligators eat birds, fish, frogs, small mammels, snakes, and turtles. Sometimes large male alligators attack dogs, pigs, and cattle.

Caring For Young  Alligators provide more care for their young than most reptiles. After laying the eggs the female stays near the nest guarding the eggs from predators. When the young hatch they give high pitched yelps and the mother comes to scratch the nest open and free them.
