Presentation transcript:

Expectations In Year 5/6, I have very high expectations. We expect the children to abide by the new Behaviour Code at all times and ensure that they are setting an outstanding example to the rest of the school.

Behaviour Scheme – Good to be Green In every classroom. Aim to be green all week. Start on green each day. Yellow card for first misdemeanour. Red card for continued poor behaviour. This will result in a Thinking About Behaviour sheet being sent home.

Thinking About Behaviour sheet Teacher fills in the top. The child then fills in the bottom. This will then be sent home for parents to sign and return. Comments can be added at the bottom.

Homework Term set of activities tied into topics. MyMaths activity each week. Year 6 will have extra maths homework. Spelling will go out on Friday and will be linked to our spelling teaching during the week.

Reading Records Reading every night for at least 15 minutes if possible – reader of the term. This could be reading allowed to a younger sibling or reading silently. A parent or family member must sign to say that they have seen or heard reading. Please make full use of the Reading Record book.

Appearance As you are in upper primary, it is important that you look smart at all times. Ensure that your shirt is tucked in and please make sure you look clean and tidy. If you have long hair (girls and boys), please tie it up as it looks far more presentable than if it is down. Earrings should be limited to a plain stud in each ear. Hoops are not permitted. School uniform must be correct every day, unless we receive a note from your parents. Uniform list is on the school website.

PE kit PE kit should consist of your house t-shirt, white shorts and plimsolls for indoor use, as well as outdoor kits, tracksuit top and bottoms and sensible trainers for the winter. PE on Monday & Thursday. Trainers may be worn for outdoor PE only. Earrings must be removed for every PE lesson. Hair must be tied up, as previously stated.

Handwriting pen licence On completion of 2 satisfactory pieces of writing, you will be awarded with your handwriting pen licence. In order to obtain this privilege, you must ensure that you are following the Cursive style of handwriting. Your licence can be removed at any time if we feel your writing is scruffy or rushed.

House points and raffle tickets. Raffle tickets will be awarded to children for good behaviour, kindness and excellent work. One raffle ticket goes into the End of Term draw. House points are given as normal.

Spills We can’t lie, Year 5 is a very important year. In September next year, some of you will undertake your 11+ tests. You will encounter NVR and VR papers.

Spills We can’t lie, Year 6 is a very important year. There will be SATs tests at the end of the year in Maths, Reading and SPaG.
