SAMPLE CAHSEE QUESTION

READ ALL

EXAMPLE QUESTION STEMS Change generally happens over time to a character or person. You will need to look for clues throughout the passage. It is likely that the author has given direct or indirect characterization throughout the passage you are asked to read. Again, the learning process this character had is something that likely occurred over time in the passage.

STRATEGIES FOR READ ALL

REFERENCE SHEET Your handouts have a chart titled “Guidelines for Determining Purpose and Tone,” which demonstrates how connected an author’s purpose (to persuade, inform, or entertain) is connected to the tone of the written work. (A portion of the chart is here on this slide.)

SAMPLE CAHSEE QUESTION This question is also from the example titled “A Day Away”
