Getting Your Mentoring Relationship Off to a Good Start Your first interaction Student make initial contact Introduce yourself, areas of interest and any reasons for participating in the mentoring program. Establish Regular Contact Maintain contact at least 2 times per month is the usual mode of communication
Getting Your Mentoring Relationship Off to a Good Start Clarify your goals as a mentee Identify areas where you would like assistance Suggestions include Career planning and development Understanding the pathway through a training program Improving clinical skills Strategies for improvement Learning about the hospital or private practice as an organization
Program Outline 35 weeks program Applications OPEN: Sunday 15/2/12 CLOSE: 12pm Sunday 22/2/15 Mentor Meet and Greet Evening Sem 151 Friday 6 th March Maintain contact at least 2 times per month Thank you Mentor Evening Sem 153 Week 3
Exclusion Criteria Participant Surgical Society’s Mentoring Program Research Project Commitment to the program for the teaching yr
