ANAC’s ANAC’s Mission Statement …to promote the individual and collective professional development of nurses involved in the delivery of care to persons infected and affected by the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV)……..

ANAC’s ANAC’s Mission Statement (cont’d) ….to promote the health and welfare of infected persons by: creating an effective network among nurses in AIDS care studying, researching and exchanging information, experiences, and ideas leading to improved care for persons with HIV/AIDS infection

ANAC’s ANAC’s Mission Statement (cont’d) ….to promote the health and welfare of infected persons by: providing leadership to the nursing community in matters related to HIV/AIDS infection advocating for HIV infected persons promoting social awareness concerning issues related to HIV/AIDS infection

Reporting Deadlines: January 31 Annual Chapter Reports due Self Assessment Lobbying & Authorization Statements ( Chapter FEIN# + President Name + Chapter Name) **Treasurer Report** **Bank statement – year end**

Reporting Deadlines: Annual Chapter Financial Reports ****Allows National to comply with April 15 th. tax reporting deadlines Failure to submit reports may impose hefty fines on individual chapter by IRS Responsibility of outgoing President

2008 Reporting Stats: Reports very slow to come in 6/44 (13%)Chapters submitted ALL reports by deadlines and eligible for chapter award 5/44 (11%)chapters still not completed all submissions

2008 Reporting Stats: Leadership lists ( 44 chapters) 20/44 (45%)received by Nov.1 st. deadline (10/29/08 -11/1/08) 21/44 (47%) received between Nov. 23 rd. and April 30 th.

2008 Reporting Stats: Self Assessment Reports ( 44 Chapters) 16/44 (36%) received by Jan. 31 st deadline (10/26/08 – 1/30/09) 24/44 (54%) received between Feb 2 nd. and May 24 th.

2008 Reporting Stats: Treasurers Reports ( 44 Chapters) 18/44 (41%)received by Jan.31 st deadline (10/26/08 – 1/31/09) 20/44 (45%)received between Feb 2 nd and May 1 st.

2009 Reporting Stats: Leadership Lists (41 Chapters) 8/41(19%) received by Nov.1 st. deadline (10/29/09 -10/30/09) 11/41(26%) received between Nov. 2 nd. & Nov 18 th. 22/41(53%) still not submitted

ANAC ANAC Chapters Sample By Laws – Proposed Change

Chapter By-Laws: Proposed Changes Re: Article III: Membership Section 2: Qualifications and Privileges Item C: Associate Members Request by Rhode Island to allow student (Associate members) to hold elected office, vote and serve on local committees at local chapter level

Chapter By-Laws: Rationale Significant disparity in allowing affiliate members( non-nurses) these privileges Need to allow all chapters the same opportunity, therefore requires change in sample chapter bylaws

Chapter By-Laws: Next Steps: Consensus at this meeting ANACPresent to ANAC BOD in January If approved, changes will be made to Sample Chapter Bylaws Chapters will have the option to change their bylaws using the approved process.
