Program for Spanish Students in September Sept. 2:Students will arrive at Dulles Airport at 6:40 pm on Air France Flight No Families will meet their students at the International Arrivals area of the Airport at 8:00 pm Sept. 3: Free Day with Host Families Sept. 4:Free Day with Host Families Sept. 5: Free Day with Host Families Sept. 6:Free Day with Host Families Sept. 7: Free Day with Host Families Sept. 8:Washington, DC We’ll start our day with light refreshments in an urban park to review events for the next 3 weeks. Then we will cross the Potomac River into Georgetown to learn about the establishment of Washington, DC as the nation’s capital. Sept. 9:Washington, DC Travel to DC and start with a tour of Arlington Cemetery and then cross over Memorial Bridge to visit the Lincoln, Korean and Vietnam Memorials.. Sept. 10:Washington, DC Travel to DC and spend the day visiting the Jefferson & Roosevelt Memorials as well as the Air & Space and American History Museums. Sept. 11Washington, DC Travel to DC and spend the day visiting the Museums of Natural History, Art, and Ford’s Theater. Sept. 12: Free Day with Host Families Sept. 13:Free Day with Host Families Sept. 14:Annapolis, MD Meet at your assigned school and travel to Annapolis for the day. Visit the US Naval Academy and have time afterwards to stroll along the waterfront.

Sept. 15:Baltimore, MD Travel to Baltimore for the day to experience a different city. We’ll visit Ft. McHenry where the Battle of 1812 was fought. Then tour the stadium where the professional baseball team plays, and end our day with a visit to the popular National Aquarium. Sept. 16: Washington, DC Meet at your assigned school and travel to DC for the day. Spend the day visiting the Smithsonian Museums. Sept. 17:School Visit Day Shadow your hosts around from class to class to get the experience of life in an American high school. Sept. 18:School Visit Day Shadow your hosts around from class to class to get the experience of life in an American high school. Sept. 19:Free Day with Your Host Families Sept. 20: Host Family/Student Picnic in the Afternoon Sept. 21:School Visit Day Travel to American University to explore college life in America. A tour of the campus is arranged as well as a meeting with the International Department. Afterwards we will walk down Massachusetts Avenue, past the embassies of several nations. Sept. 22:School Visit Day Spend the day visiting classes at the Washington International School, a private school focusing on educational programs that prepare students for real life experiences and global citizenry. Sept. 23:Program Wrap Up Meet at your assigned school and travel to Lifetime Fitness. We’ll invoke some team challenge exercises, using body and brain power, to reflect on what you’ve learned these past two weeks, while having some fun. Return in time to spend your last few hours with your host families before departing to the airport at 7:30 pm for your return trip to Spain.
