◦ Scientific Name: Petromyzon marinus ◦ Common Name: Silver Lamprey ◦ Enviorment: Silver lamprey (parasitic); found in the Mississippi River and Chippewa, Embarrass Rivers. It feeds on carp, catfish, walleyes, northern pike, suckers, sturgeons, and paddlefish. ◦ Interesting Extras:  Special Talent: One lamprey can upset and ecosystem by eating 40lbs of fish in its lifetime  Favorite Food: Fish Blood  Global Reputation: River services often set traps to kill lampreys

◦ Scientific Name: Manta birostris ◦ Common Name: Mantaray ◦ Environment: Marine Enviorments ◦ Interesting Extras:  Favorite Food: Small Fish and Plankton  Size: Can weigh up to 3000 lbs!  Weird: These rays do not have a stinger

◦ Scientific Name: Amphiprion percula ◦ Common Name: Clownfish ◦ Environment: Clownfish live at the bottom of the sea in sheltered reefs or in shallow lagoons, usually in pairs. ◦ Interesting Extras: Clownfish and Anemones  Clownfish have a special relationship with the anemone. They clean the anemone by eating the algae and other food leftovers on them.  They protect the sea anemones by chasing away polyp-eating fish, such as the butterfly fish.  They have a special mucus covering which keeps them from being stung by the anemone.

◦ Scientific Name: Phyllobates terribilis ◦ Common Name: Poison Dart Frog ◦ Envonerment: South America Rainforest ◦ Interesting Extras:  Secret Weapon: They can extract poison through their skin as a method of protection  Favorite Food: Small Crickets  Name: They are called “dart frogs” because native Indians would poison their arrows with frog poison.

◦ Scientific Name: Chamaeleo Zeylanicus ◦ Common Name: Chameleon ◦ Environment: Tree dwelling creatures that are usually found in Africa and Madagascar. ◦ Interesting Extras:  Favorite Food: Any types of insects  Moody: Chameleons change colors depending on their mood and surroundings.  Special Talent: A chameleon can extend its tongue more than 50% of its body length!

◦ Scientific Name: Phoenicopterus roseus ◦ Common Name: Flamingo ◦ Environment: Flamingos live near bodies of water with high salt concentration ◦ Interesting Extras:  Favorite Food: Shrimp  Beauty Secret: Flamingos get their pink color from eating shrimp  Special Talent: Flamingos often stand on one leg but no one knows why

◦ Scientific Name: Enhydra lutris kenyoni ◦ Common Name: Sea Otter ◦ Environment: Sea Otters live in shallow water. They find their food on the ocean floor but they play, socialize and groom on the ocean surface. ◦ Interesting Extras:  How Bout That Hair: Sea otter fur is the finest of any mammal, consisting of 850,000 to 1 million hairs per square inch. Sea otters depend on these hairs to keep them warm.  Greatest Fear: If a sea otters coat gets contaminated by a foreign substance it will no longer be able to regulate its temperature and it will die.  Favorite Food: They eat clams, mussels, urchins, crabs, and fish. They must dive to capture their food, sometimes up to 250 feet
