Procedures Read the board! AP Calculus AB AP Statsistics Precalculus Teaching Days –15 min: journal (SAT/ACT question, article, puzzle, prompt,…) –59 min: lesson (notes, practice, activity, project,…) –10 min: wrap-up (summary, reflection, feedback,…) Assessment Days –Quizzes and tests are pre-announced –Quizzes: half a class period, then continue curriculum –Tests: entire class period –Journal and wrap-up included in class period

Miscellaneous Name/Date everything! Calculators (none yet…TI-84 or TI-Nspire eventually) Journal and Wrap-Up –Copy the problem (or enough to read later) Getting Help –Join your class website: –Tutoring after school –Join the Math Circle!

Evaluation Summative Items (50%) –Consists of unit tests, cumulative exams, and comprehensive projects. –Thorough with all work and explanations in order to receive full credit. –Summative assessments are announced in advance. Formative Items (50%) –Consists of homework, class-work, quizzes, and portfolio work –Homework and class work is graded for completion. –Quizzes are graded for accuracy. –No credit will be given for problems that do not show all explanations and calculations necessary to determine an answer. –Portfolio (3-ring binder): Journal Wrap-Up Notes Practice Homework Data (grade record and assignments)

Journal Solve the 3 x 3 Magic Square. Use the numbers 1 – 9 so that each row, column and diagonal have the same sum. *The first student to correctly arrange the solution on the bulletin board in the hallway gets a candy bar.

Circle Graph Learning Styles 3 pieces (visual, auditory, kinesthetic) Find the ratio for each of your totals –For example, there are 30 total questions (10 in each category), so a total of eight in the visual modality is 8/30. –Use the “is over of equals % over 100” proportion to find the percent needed for the circle graph –Don’t forget to title and label!
