University of St Andrews How a CRIS can drive improvements in information management CRIS2010 Aalborg June 2010 Research assessment in the UK Research Assessment Exercises have been going in UK since 1986 – the main purpose being to distribute public money on the basis of research excellence. The last exercise (RAE2008) determined the distribution of a third of research income in UK > £1.5 billion. It also affects reputation and league tables … so the two main things a researcher is motivated by.. money to do research and reputation.
