Seward Farms Vocabulary Words

root – the part of a tree or plant that grows under the ground.

stem- the long main part of a plant from which the leaves and flowers grow.

harvest- to collect or gather up crops.

crop – a plant grown in large amounts, usually for food.

maize - corn

maze – a complicated network of paths or lines, made as a puzzle to find you way through.

bushel – a bushel equals 32 quarts.

husks – the outer casing of seeds or grains.

kernel – a grain or seed of corn, wheat, or other cereal plant.

agriculture - farming

tractor – a piece of machinery used for farming.

fertilizer – to put a substance of the ground to make it richer for growing crops.

leaves – part of a plant that grows from the stem and makes food for the plant.

flower – the part of a plant that produces seeds or fruit.
