IntroductionIntroduction A region is a place split up. The U.S region has five regions they are the northeast, southeast, middle west, southwest, and west. The N.J regions are the Atlantic coastal plains, piedmont, highlands, and ridge and valley.

Northeast Northeast We live in this region Four seasons- winter, spring, summer, and fall Appalachian Mountains - found in most of the states in this region. Coastal plains- a flat low land along the edge of the Atlantic Ocean.

Southeast Southeast Crisscrossed with rivers Large area of wetlands, swamps, marshes, and bayous ex. Everglades Davis Bayous- marsh slow moving steam Warm all year

Middle-WestMiddle-West Produces corn and wheat Made of inferior plain Central Plains- in the east, low elevation, produces corn Great Plains- in the west, cold winters/hot summers, produces wheat

SouthwestSouthwest One of the famous land forms here is the Grand Canyon Made mostly of plateaus, plains, and deserts. The Rocky Mountains appear in this as well as the west This region shares the Great Plains with the Middle West.

WestWest The redwood trees that grow in organ and California are the tallest trees in the world. The Great Basin is in this region. Landforms included mountains, plateaus, and valleys.

NJ Regions In NJ we have four regions they are Atlantic Coastal Plains, Piedmont, Highlands, and Ridge and Vally. You will learn about them on the next slide.

Atlantic Coastal Plains We live in this region Largest region covers more than half of N.J Home to pine lands

PiedmontPiedmont N.J's greatest population borders NYC Located at the foothills Palicades forms the eastern boarder Fall line separates this region from ACP.

HighlandsHighlands Most of N.J's lakes are found here The town of Franklin is known for its "glowing" rocks

Ridge and Vally Home Delaware water gap and high point state park Dairy farming is an important business Appalachian Mountains runs through this region
