Technology and Pharmacy Systems When you are talking with nurses and facility staff, please make sure that you get the name of who you are talking with. We are required to record the names of staff that give us approvals and changes in prescriptions. We use the technology and pharmacy systems to help enhance and improve the care of our patients. QS1 and DocuTrack are our main platforms for keeping track of patients and medications. By having two systems, we have back- up if one fails or does not have all the functions we need.

Medication Storage and Ordering  Medications are stored in the Pharmacy as follows:  Alphabetical order moving up and down each row of medications  Respiratory items are stored together on the South end of the pharmacy  Over-the-Counter and Topical medications are stored together on the North end of the pharmacy  Refrigerated items are stored in the back pharmacy fridge

Medication Storage and Ordering  Medication orders are placed by Heidi  No other technician or staff member unless instructed by the pharmacists should attempt to order medications. Heidi knows how to price out the medications properly and order from the most cost-efficient company  Orders are delivered daily, and all staff members and students are responsible for helping to put the order away

Pharmacy Support Staff  Jenna – Pharmacy Manager  Munir – Pharmacist and Owner  Thomas – Lead Pharmacists  Kristin – Billing & Insurance

Processes that Follow Medication Filling  All medications must be scanned out of QS1 Workflow from Label/Dispensing to Quality Check  This helps with accountability and tells the pharmacist that the medication is ready to be checked for delivery  All medications are signed by the pharmacist and placed in the proper facility bins  Facility bins are checked daily using a delivery manifest

End of Day Procedures  Check Label/Dispensing for any stray or unlabeled medications  Ask typists what can be printed for delivery  Print delivery manifest and begin checking  Note: New students and employees are not allowed to check the larger facilities until they are acquainted with the checking process.  When delivery drivers arrive, make sure all medications have been put away and are ready to be delivered to the facilities

Thank You!  Your service in the pharmacy is essential to patient care  We appreciate your support and careful work  We encourage having fun, but concentrating at the same time!
