What is Farming ? The science, art, and business of cultivating soil, producing crops, and raising livestock is called farming or agriculture.

Farming And Gathering (Ancient Method) Traditional method of farming was walking up and down the field row by row with a plough that was pulled by a cow or bull.

Farming and Gathering (Modern Method) The modern method of farming is to use a machine such as a combine harvester or other machines like tractors.

Weeding (Ancient Method) A traditional method for farmers was using manure that they gathered from their farm animals or horses. This was more environmentally- friendly, and also human- friendly.

Weeding (Modern Method) Nowadays, farmers use chemical fertilizers and other unfriendly means to grow the crops. Though this increases the yield of crops it pollutes them and causes health problems for the people who consume it.

Irrigation (Ancient Method) In the olden days, farmers used to water the plants by their own hands, help of wells etc. This was very time consuming.

Irrigation (Modern Method)  In this day and age farmers use many efficient ways of watering like sprinklers, drip irrigation and others means. This reduces the amount of water and saves lot of water.

The way of farming has changed over years. In a developing country like India till today some villages still follow the old and ancient methods of agriculture. Even though the modern methods are less time consuming, ancient methods give the produce a fresh taste and also keep us healthy. So one important thing to be said, “OLD IS GOLD”
