Fall 2014 Markets Update Phil Zigby, Chair MOC Committee MWA Fall Workshop Oct 29, 2014

Marketing Trends Will We Reap a Fall Harvest? No real summer heat wave but will some products cause a meltdown

OCC Old Corrugated Cardboard OCC remains strong with a steady demand. Mill inventories have risen in Sept/Oct No major price fluctuations expected ONP pricing has been dropping, fingers crossed that $60mt is the bottom Shipping has been fairly consistent

PET Polyethylene terephthalate Price soften over the summer, down to $350mt Demand for RPET flake remains weak. No price increase expected any time soon

HDPE High Density Polyethylene What a rides its been. Back up to $800mt Price drop has begun this week Is the demand real? Processors in financial difficulties

Mixed Plastics Tubs & Lids Ontario Markets continue to accept mixed plastics. Pricing is increasing. No municipality should be void of an option to divert mixed plastics Tubs and lids rose to $300mt. Quality specs being monitored very closely. Pricing will continue its strong pace

Steel Cans, steady as she goes. Pricing continues to be strong, $300mt Market trend topped out in the spring. Slow descent over the summer but nothing drastic, overall a good year. Quality standards for prime grade aluminum cans continue to be closely monitored by the mills Metals Steel & aluminum

Plastic Film & Styrofoam Densifier, Depot, Take it back, what is the best option for these materials MRF is not the solution

Glass Fewer and fewer options for glass from the MRF NexCycle is the current MBG option but with restrictions Potential solutions for glass Needs to be removed from schedule 1 Assistance required from the MOECC
