Spring 2014Markets Update Phil Zigby, Chair MOC Committee MWA Spring Workshop May 14, 2014

Marketing Trends Time To Defrost From Winter Positives and negatives from the cold? Looking forward to the summer?

OCC Old Corrugated Cardboard OCC remains strong with a consistent demand. Mill inventories have risen in Sept/Oct No major price fluctuations expected ONP pricing has been steady for months Some shipping hiccups

PET Polyethylene terephalate Aggressive pushed over $0.23/lbs and in some cases climbing Demand for PET driven almost entirely by North American markets Weather forecast is a cooler summer, fewer beverages may be purchased

HDPE High Density Polyethylene What goes up must come down. $800mt was the top, what will be the bottom Winter causes havoc to supply Processors in financial difficulties

Mixed Plastics Tubs & Lids Ontario Markets continue to accept mixed plastics. Pricing is increasing. No municipality should be void of an option to divert mixed plastics Tubs and lids rose to $300mt. Quality specs being monitored very closely. Pricing will continue its strong pace

Steel Cans, steady as she goes. Pricing has not been below $250mt in over a year Pricing increased entire 1 st quarter. Broke the $1800mt levels. May have reached peak for the year. Markets for prime grade aluminum are very restrictive and quality standards are being strictly adhered Metals Steel & aluminum

Glass Ontario glass market remains status quo Nexcycle continues to work on its action plan, improving the process to accept more mixed broken glass

Plastic Film & Styrofoam EPS has some homes, it will continue to be an expensive commodity to handle MRF grade film options are low
