AGENDA Program Updates: New Reflections Rubric Plans for Building Your Reflections Program Network: Referencing PTA’s Family Engagement Standards Identify Strategies for Recruiting Local PTA Reflections Chairs and State PTA Volunteers Use Program Registration Data to Your Advantage Open Discussion: Program Set Up and Training

Reflections Rubric NEW!

Engage all members of your statewide network to meet the national standards for family-school partnerships.

Share Your Thoughts on Recruiting State Volunteers/Committee! What do you need assistance with? How many volunteers/committee members do you need? What experience should they have? Where do you look for your team? Does your PTA offer incentives/recognition?

Recruiting State PTA Reflections Volunteers Be sure to follow your State PTA’s guidelines for identifying, selecting, nominating or appointing your Reflections Committee. Consider the following tips: Connect with state-level arts in education experts/professionals to explore their role as judges coordinator/entry qualifier/etc. Identify strong Council/District/Region leaders and send a personal compliment and invitation to share their Divide the work by assigning projects: Promotion and training manager; judging facilitator; awards banquet planner; etc.

The Reflections Network is a multi-layer community comprised of thousands of local, council, district, region and state volunteers focused on support for arts education and cultural exploration. This is primarily accomplished through the National PTA Reflections Arts program in 53 state congresses and 8000 Local PTA Units.

Share Your Thoughts on Recruiting Local PTA Reflections Chairs! What is your goal for increasing number of programs? How will you engage new vs. experienced program chairs? Where do you look for new Chairs? Does your PTA offer incentives/recognition?

Strategies for Recruiting Local PTA Reflections Chairs Recruit new Chairs by identifying “Reflections Deserts” in your state. Target promotional and training efforts. – Exhibit artwork in the geographical region. – Position Reflections as a PTA benefit. – Send an invitation to PTAs with information on how to get started and/or attend a Reflections Celebration. Retain program chairs who volunteered last year. – Send an to past chairs thanking them for their commitment and leadership at their school. Include a specific call to action on how to stay involved. – Set a challenge/goal for existing PTAs to increase their student participation by 10% 20% or 50%!

Use Program Registration Data to Your Advantage Encourage all PTAs to register and report participation at PTA.org/Reflections – Distribute Step by Step Guide and include instructions in Local Leader’s Guide. – National PTA provides State Leaders with daily automatic Registration Reports via . – Use reports to communicate with registrants throughout the program year. – Use reports to identify Reflections Deserts in your state based on Zip Code. Use existing State PTA registration system (if available). Distribute paper forms and roll-up information as the program progresses from Local to State levels.

Open Discussion: Program Set Up / Training Reminders: Join us tomorrow for an informational webinar for all Local PTAs – Recording will be archived at PTA.org/ReflectionsToolkit. – Template copy will be archived at PTA.org/StateReflectionsLibrary.
